How pretty is this? Warm wood tones, some soothing artwork, an oversized coffee table... all we are missing is a spot of tea!
Unsure about artwork but love the Tuscan landscape, sailboats or tranquil lake scenes? Then the understated beauty of a black and white photograph, breathtaking and subtle at the same time, sure to blend with any decor from traditional to modern, may be just the right answer.
Tired of that old, oversized television armoire hogging the whole family room?
We had this sideboard made for us using old wood and an antique pine door. It looks pretty under the trumeau mirror in distressed grey paint but it also works just as well as a television console.
A New Shipment of Ginger Jars Just Arrived!
At this time of year you definitely need a pop of color. Look at the design books and you will see blue and white accents everywhere. Why? Because it's timeless. Historically a symbol of prosperity--only the very wealthy could afford the pigments; we like it because it goes with just about every color you can think of and never goes out of style--ever.
Skip the knick knacks and treat yourself to one good piece of porcelain a year and in time you will have a collection to be proud of...
Literally the easisest way to brighten up a room is to buy new lamps. How many of us have had the same lamps for generations? Too small, too drab, with yellowed shades and mottled metal? Donate and then zip over to British Cottage...Right now we are loving the simple elegance of the gourd lamp in a single color with a contemporary shade, but we have lots of different styles on hand. Once again we are talking heirloom ready; these are forever.
Please remember at British Cottage we decide what we stock:Whether it is our design, antique, or a bench made reproduction, our furniture
Because we spent a good part of the last twenty nine years buying container loads of antique European furniture, we are really good at finding the newly made items that are unique and special--before they get copied and dumb-downed by the big chain stores and catalogues. Whether traveling in England or on the continent or at market in North Carolina it is classic style, solid wood and handmade construction that appeals to us.
While we miss the absolute uniqueness of an antique piece, we appreciate the stability, functionality and pricing that comes with new furniture.
We like to think we are selling the antiques of tomorrow.
We offer free local delivery service and charge just our costs for deliveries farther away.
We also can arrange long distance moves for you.
